Atonement

I'm going to try something new here, which I guess is better than nothing new, at least that's what I've been hearing. The first change is that I don't think I'm going to post any more stories on this website. People from all over the world are reading this site (not many, but still) and, well, it was just getting to hard to decide what was world-wide public and what was circle-of-friends public, so - as you circle-of-frienders have noticed, I am now sending mass emails instead of posting to the blog, albiet very infrequently. A new one is brewing.

The second change is that I'm going to - at least this once - post book recommendations on this blog. Not book reviews, just recommendations. And only must-read recommendations. So on with the show.

Atonement by Ian McEwan was recommended to me by an old friend, and I have been thankful every day for a week that I followed up on his tip. It is a perfect novel. Perfect in form, in language - what precision with words - and in story. It is the esscence of story, unencumberd by a narrator's personal revelations and reflections, which allows the entire, unified novel to resonate true.

Enough of my babble. Get the book. And, of course, I want to hear your recommendations.
